UXD Course

It is an intensive eight weeks program designed for busy people (and by busy people) interested in learning and practising User Experience Design. Sixteen classes 6:30p-9:30p, hands-on, with real design briefs and the demo day at the end.

Instructors are professionals who are working in the industry and practice what they teach. No reading from an outdated textbook.

The students get the access to all the materials as well as collaborative design workspace online. You will be able to review, refresh, collaborate, and learn at your own pace between the classes.

This is how it looks like:

Students are working in small groups during the classes and individually on their projects. We help each student individually. This is why our classes work well for both seasoned design professionals and people who have never done any design prior to the course — a student is always levelling up form where they are to the next level working on their unique project.

We do not require any prior experience in graphical design or artistic abilities. But you have to be creative: genuine interest in solving problems is mandatory.

We provide Figma as a primary design tool and Notion for all the course materials and research notes. By the end of our program students get good at both. Tools are provided at the professional subscription level free of charge for the duration of the course.

The UXD Course is a minimum valuable set of concepts and know-hows to help you kick-start your practice of human-centric design. You will get hands-on experience in design thinking, service design, UX research, journey mapping, rapid prototyping, usability testing, UI design, and design systems. You will develop a project to good for a portfolio level or, more important, for you next step in your creative career.

We do talk about in-depth fundamental topics during the course and create intense teachable moments. We are there to inspire and support you with all we got. You do the learning.

Is it for you?

We are proud that our classes are diverse. We welcome any human form 17-105 years old, any ancestry, gender expression, sexuality, faith or background. We had a Fashion Designer, a School Teacher, a Churchman, a Product Designer, an Engineering Lead, an Animator, a Product manager, a Family Office Executive, a Marketer, a Strategists, a Photographer, and many other in our class.

We do have a scholarship program for the underprivileged or anyone currently struggling financially.

What is the outcome?

At the end of the course we host the Demo Day — community event where students present their projects and their stories. On this and other events, we introduce our alumni to an extensive professional network.

We are helping our students to find an internship, a full-time job, mentors, collaborators, or investors. We stay in touch. When we match you for job well sometimes we get paid additional fee by the employers, but we never allow this to motivate our judgment. We only get paid when you happy with your job!

We measure our success by the success of our alumni in practicing design.

How to qualify?

You have to be self-motivated, eager to learn and practice. You need:

• Have a strong personal motivation to take the course.

• A laptop that can run Figma comfortably.

• Good English proficiency.

• Time to engage with the classes fully and dedicate an extra ~6h a week to your project (15h/week total).

How much?

• Tuition is 18’000 HKD, you may pay half to secure your spot in a cohort.

• A full refund no questions asked during the first two weeks.
